Class on fire

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better,

to paint a picture or write a letter,

bake a cake or plant a seed,

ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,

with rivers to swim and mountains to climb,

music to hear and books to read, friends to

cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there

With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,

A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.

This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,

old age will come and it's not kind.

And when you go - and go you must -

You, yourself, will make more dust

Don't you just love that - it's from an old song apparently and how true it is - could be my motto!

Here's a quilt made from suffolk puffs - 1/2" ones. It was given to Gail by her husband's family after they found it in the back of a cupboard. It meausre 36" square. Amazing!

I found this in a folder recently - for our sewing group Xmas party a couple of years ago we were to bring along a self portrait. Only two of us were brave enough to rise to the challenge and this is mine. It says it all.
Here are some pics from class yesterday at The Vintage Patch. What a laugh we have in that class - it's hardly work for me and the girls all get on so well. They all came in with heaps of show and tell - they've all been really productive lately and demanding a new project for next time - no pressure!

Another mammoth effort - 400 miniscule suffolk puffs!! Sue made this for a friend - can I be your friend Sue?

Lorraine's Deauville quilt top - and how much does she love handpiecing - not much.

This is "suffolk puff sue" with her Lollipop trees BOM from Material Obsession. I didn't realise the blocks were so big. She's doing them quilt-as-you-go and they look great

Rachael's Fat Quarterly quilt-a-long is finished and it's huge. A real eye-spy quilt.

Lorraine's table centre from the last camp project - try and ignore the cot quilt background.

Rachael and Janice being silly as usual but don't their centres look amazing.
Don't forget to look at the Springwood Quilt Show blog to see the latest on our raffle quilt. Rachael has an interview with Petal Davies the designer of the quilt. There's a link on my sidebar or click here.

  1. I can really relate to the sentiment in those lyrics. Lovely suffolk puff quilts and you have some very talented students - those centres are amazing. Happy stitching!

  2. Oh, how I would have hated making all those tiny puffs for that quilt. But I am glad someone liked doing it.

  5. I saw Rachel's dancers quilt on her Blue Mountain Daisy blog and asked her where she got the pattern - she told me about your blog. The pattern is beautiful.
