Caloundra Quilters

Last weekend I had the pleasure of teaching a 2day workshop at Caloundra Arts centre for the Caloundra Quilters. They share this amazing venue with all these other art groups and it's a massive space well set out for them all. My workshop was in a massive room and I figured I walked about 10kms over the two days!
I can't seem to write under each pic so I'll do it all here and you'll have to scroll down to see them.
This post is from my iPad and I don't really know what I'm doing!
The girls tackled my Mariners Garden quilt and got heaps done over the 2 days as you can see below.
Some sewed their circles together and considered backgrounds while some were happy to sew lots of each section to be finished later.
I had a great time and I hope they did too. Thanks Cathy for picking me up each morning, thanks Lorraine for my lovely lunch and surprise pressie and thanks Margaret for, organising it all.
I'd come back in a flash!
BTW the kookie-looking books in the garden were made by the potters to represent all the groups who use the centre. Love it!

Bomaderry

Bomaderry is just north of Nowra on the NSW coast and home to a lovely group of ladies who sew at a local church hall. I was there on Saturday for a NYB class and here are some of the results...
These blocks always delight with contrast being the key for a stunning block.

Chevrons are big at the moment and you can see why.

Wow again!

Not everything has to be bright - lots of different blues work just as well.

Love those geese.

Statue of Liberty?

Not quite sure how this happened but I love it.

Solids in the mix.

Great contrast.
And Maggie brought in her Mariners Garden started in a previous class. The quilting was amazing and I think she's pretty proud of her efforts. Well done.
This weekend sees me in Caloundra - southern Queensland - for two days of the same quilt then hubby and I are cruising down the coast to be in Dorrigo on Friday for my gig at the Misty Mountain Getaway - can't wait to see this beautiful area and meet all the other tutors and students of course.
Hope I can post from the ipad while I'm away.

Epping Show and a win

Pics from Epping Quilt Show last weekend...
a lovely version of Birds in Paradise..

great NYB quilt...

and this Jenny's version of nearly the same pattern.

Trish's Mariners Garden.

I have actually won a giveaway!! Can you believe that I won 5 x 1/2 yds of this beautiful Echino fabric in an Action Kivu Giveaway.
Thanks so much Andres for donating this bundle and to Alissa for organising it.
I believe they raised over $11,000 thru donations. Well done and the money goes to help women and children in Eastern Congo.
Here's a link to an amazing quilt in a museum in Illinois. Take the time to watch the slide show at the end of the post too.

Snake Gully

I visited Snake Gully Quilters in Muswellbrook again last week for a weekend workshop.
Two projects were happening - the Hatchet quilt...

We had a lot of fun in a great venue - sheep all around and great hospitality. Thanks again for having me Liz!
Show and tell's always good with this Jacobean Star of Roz' from the last workshop ready to be quilted.

Matiah is the youngest member of the group - year 6 at school - but that hasn't stopped her sewing progress. Using Nan's Bernina she's in the group's yearly challenge ...

and loves foundation piecing! She's a member of the NSW Quilters Guild and we might even see something from her in next year's show. Keep up the great work Matiah - we need lots more young sewers just like you.

For all of us who can't get to the Quilt Study Centre in Nebraska here's a link to their on-line exhibitions - well worth a look with lots of amazing quilts.
And don't forget Epping Quilt Show is on this weekend
Epping Quilters 30th Anniversary Show, Don Moore Community Centre, North Rocks Road, Carlingford NSW. Hours: Fri 11am-7pm, Sat 9am-5pm.
